Winter talks 2026-27
All talks at Abbeyfields Community Centre; 2 pm for a 2.30 start. The cost is £5 per talk, which includes refreshments.
7th October - "History beneath your feet". Paul Woollins shares his enthusiasm for metal detecting.
4th November - "Alice and Bill Bayliss - the story of a Winchcombe family who fought in and survived the First World War." Talk given by Adrian Bailey.
2nd December - "Hailes Abbey and the Mystery of the Holy Blood". Talk by local historian, David Aldred
6th January 2027 - "The history of Farmcote". Alexander Jaskowski explores the village named Fernecote in the Domesday Book of 1086.
3rd February - "From Winchcombe to South Africa: The Boer War secrets of a church plaque revealed". Talk by David Morgan.
3rd March - "John Henry goes to war". Talk by Derek Maddock, archivist at Sudeley Castle.
